Classes custom designed to meet student’s needs
Each class is custom designed to meet the needs of our students based on where they boat, how they boat, and their skill levels. Our goal is to safely increase the confidence level of each of our students as efficiently as possible.
In our custom classes we will discuss, demonstrate and train in the following areas:
About Your Boat
We train you on parts and equipment on your boat and help you learn its capabilities and tendencies
Docking and Undocking
Teaching topics include different conditions and situations
Anchoring
Topics covered include setting the anchor and weighing the anchor
Rules of the Road
We cover topics such as channel markers, other aids to navigation, and avoiding collisions with other boats
Navigating
Training on topics such as getting there and back again safely and exploring your surroundings
Training Your Crew
Topics include complementing the skipper’s actions
How We Teach
Our teaching techniques are designed to have the greatest impact on our students’ skill levels in a safe environment. Some information is discussed on the dock or in a classroom and other topics are covered while we are underway. Still more training takes place near a dock or other boats in the water. Often, we team-teach the more complex skills such a docking in wind and current. In those situations, one of our instructors will be near the helm giving personal guidance to the skipper while the other is working with the crew.
We have found that this approach is one of the best ways to allow a student to gain confidence as quickly as possible in a relatively safe environment. And as confidence builds, improved skill levels quickly follow, allowing a student to exceed his or her goals quickly and efficiently.

Our Classes
Our classes are customized to meet your needs. We can use your boat or ours which is a 26’ center console with twin engines.
* Discounts are offered if we use your safe boat.
* Onshore training classes are a pre-requisite to on-water training classes.
* Classes are 4 hours in the classroom and 4 hours on the water.
